Pardee Homes purchased the land that the Parvin-Dohrmann Corporation previously leased. They developed a master-planned housing community called the Spring Valley, about the views of the Spring Mountains and its location in the Las Vegas Valley.

The place was founded by the Clark County Commission 41 years ago in May 1981, when residents grouped to solicit the commission to create an unincorporated town. It was because the residents claimed they did not pay their taxes fairly for county services.

Desert Breeze Park

Desert Breeze Park is one of the largest parks in Clark County. It is a regional park that is 97 hectares (240-acre). It features baseball diamonds, basketball courts, and soccer fields as its sports zones. They have a spot for a children's play area. They are considered a pet-friendly park because dogs and cats are allowed as long as they are under the control of their handler and on a leash. The south side of the park is where the three dog runs lie, including benches, trees, waste receptacles, and water taps. It is accessible from either Durango or Spring Mountain. However, other animals are prohibited unless the Director of Parks and Recreation permit them. The skate park has intermediate to advanced levels with some aspects suitable for beginners. It has a concrete park with benches, a shade structure, and drinking fountains. Moreover, there are two regulation roller hockey rinks on the west of the skate park. Desert Breeze Park also has picnic areas but on a first-come, first-served basis.

Charlie Frias Park

Charlie Frias Park, which opened on October 8, 2012, is a beautiful park to visit. It is a 32-acre site with canyon and mountain views. It has a running track with a slight uphill portion, which makes it an excellent spot to get some exercise like running or hiking. You can walk around and include taking the steps while enjoying the stairs. The amenities in the park include playgrounds, picnic facilities, and open lawn areas.
